Uncle Si Robertson from the popular TV show ‘Duck Dynasty’ is gearing up for lung surgery after experiencing health issues for the past year and a half. At 74 years old, Uncle Si remains positive and excited about the upcoming procedure, looking forward to regaling everyone with his stories once again.

In recent episodes of the Duck Call Room podcast, Uncle Si openly admitted that his smoking habits have contributed to his lung problems and difficulties in breathing. Additionally, he has been diagnosed with COPD, which made his COVID-19 diagnosis in early 2021 all the more concerning. Uncle Si even confessed that he doubted he would survive COVID, with family members and podcast co-hosts noting that he hadn’t done everything he could to help himself.

During an episode titled “Uncle Si’s COVID-19 Story,” the four guys recounted the apprehension Uncle Si had about going to the hospital and his reluctance to take medication when he was eventually released. However, he eventually relented and began to recover. In May 2022, he revealed the reason behind his need for lung surgery.

On Episode 146 of the Duck Call Room, Uncle Si explained that while one of his lungs functions well during inhalation, it underperforms during exhalation. As a solution, he will be undergoing surgery to have a device installed that will assist the compromised lung in expelling air.

Surgery is fast approaching, and Uncle Si is optimistic. “There are a few more things we need to accomplish,” he shared, “but it looks like I’m approved for lung surgery.” He added humorously, “Then I’ll be able to talk your ears off with even more stories, all guaranteed to be 95 percent true.”

On February 11, 2021, Uncle Si announced his readiness to return to the podcast, much to the delight of his fans.
