Tina Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939, and raised in Nutbush, Tennessee. She first rose to fame in the 1960s as part of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. However, her relationship with Ike quickly became turbulent. In her 2018 biography, Tina revealed the challenges she faced, saying, “My relationship with Ike was doomed the day he figured out I was going to be his moneymaker. He needed to control me, economically and psychologically, so I could never leave him.”

Despite the abuse she endured, Tina found the strength to break free from the toxic relationship. In 1976, she courageously left Ike and went on to divorce him in 1978. This marked a turning point in her life and the beginning of her remarkable solo career.
