Katelen and Billy Green

A cancer patient’s dream wedding became a heartwarming reality when 33 suppliers and a generous venue offered their services for free. Katelen Cheshire, 23, and Billy Green, 29, from Telford, recently exchanged vows in a magical Christmas-themed wedding in Shrewsbury.

Katelen, who has battled stage four Hodgkin’s lymphoma, received the news earlier this year that her cancer had returned. Despite the challenging circumstances, the couple’s wedding turned into a beautiful miracle.

“It was so breathtaking what everyone did, it blew everyone away,” Katelen said gratefully. “They all did amazing to make mine and Billy’s wedding a miracle, and we can’t thank them enough.”

One of the suppliers, Cindy Edwards from Stanford Farm, described the event as their own version of the television show “Don’t Tell The Bride.” With a free reign and unlimited budget, Cindy transformed the stables into a winter wonderland, complete with a live music ensemble, a string quartet, and even a snow machine.

To surprise the couple, all the suppliers were hidden in a separate barn until later in the evening. “We all had mulled wine and mince pies, and it was lovely for the suppliers to see what we had created,” Cindy revealed.

However, what touched Cindy the most was the couple’s genuine love and excitement to marry each other. When asked about her favorite part of the day, Katelen responded without hesitation: “Marrying Billy.” The couple’s love and happiness were undeniable, and it was truly heartwarming to witness.

Known primarily as a festival and summer wedding venue, Stanford Farm hopes to host more winter weddings in the future after the success of this heartwarming event.

This heartwarming ‘Christmas miracle’ wedding is a reminder that the generosity and kindness of strangers can truly make dreams come true. It’s stories like these that restore our faith in humanity and bring joy to all who hear them.
