There’s nothing quite like a wedding to bring tears of joy to people’s eyes. And that was certainly the case for four-year-old Gage during his father’s wedding to Senior Airman Emily Leehan. Gage, the son of US Marine Corps sergeant Joshua Newville, tried his best to hold back his emotions, but it was his stepmom’s vows that broke the floodgates.

Gage stood proudly by his father’s side as Joshua and Emily exchanged vows in Ripley, New York. Little did Gage know, Emily had written a set of vows specifically for him. As she began to recite them, the emotions became too much for Gage to bear. He burst into tears, throwing his arms around Emily for comfort.

The whole room couldn’t help but let out an “awwww” as Emily tried to console the emotional four-year-old. “Don’t cry, baby,” she said, understanding his overwhelming feelings. Emily continued with her heartfelt vows, expressing her love and appreciation for Gage. “You are a special boy,” she told him. “You are smart, handsome, and kind to others. You have helped shape me into the woman I am today, and I am so grateful to have you in my life.”

Both Emily and Joshua couldn’t hold back their own tears during this touching moment. It was a ceremony filled with love and emotion that will always be remembered. The newlyweds, who were both on active duty, couldn’t go on their honeymoon right away. Instead, they returned to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst to begin their married life.

What a beautiful ceremony, reminding us all of the power of love. We wish Joshua and Emily all the best in their life together.
