At the age of 78, the beloved actor and Hollywood superstar Tom Selleck appears to be ready to step away from the limelight. Rumors have been swirling that Selleck plans to leave Hollywood behind and retire to his avocado farm for a quieter and more fulfilling life.

According to insiders, the conclusion of the hugely popular TV series Blue Bloods may mark the end of Selleck’s acting career. Sources close to the actor have revealed that he wants to spend more time with his family and enjoy the outdoor activities he loves on his ranch outside of Los Angeles.

“At his age, Tom wants more time to enjoy all the outdoorsy things he likes to do on the ranch. And he wants to spend more time with family,” shared the source. “Tom has more than enough money, and he’s not attached to fame and the trappings that go along with it.”

Interestingly, this wouldn’t be Selleck’s first time taking a break from the entertainment industry. Back in 1988, when he was at the height of his fame starring in the hit TV show Magnum P.I., Selleck decided to step back and prioritize his personal life. He explained, “I was tired and I wanted a three-dimensional life because I didn’t have one. I worked 90 hours a week and did a movie every break.”

While he eventually returned to acting and appeared in several successful TV shows and movies, Selleck has always valued a simple and grounded lifestyle. Known for being a low-key kind of guy, he enjoys his time at his avocado farm, which he purchased from Dean Martin in 1988.

“This ranch is a great counterpoint to the acting business, which is an abstraction,” Selleck once shared. “You dig a hole and plant an oak tree — and I’ve probably planted a thousand of them — it’s real.”

As fans, we are surely going to miss Tom Selleck if and when he decides to retire. His fantastic career has brought joy and entertainment to millions of people around the world.
