It’s a heart-wrenching reality that the frailty of life can be shattered in an instant. This is especially devastating for those who have lost someone they hold dear to their hearts. Today, we want to express our deepest condolences and prayers to a family mourning the loss of their four beloved children. Tragically, these siblings were involved in a head-on collision caused by a suspected drunk driver while they were out shopping for Christmas gifts.

On that fateful day of December 16, 26-year-old Daniel Gonzalez, 23-year-old Fabian Gonzalez, 14-year-old Lilian Gonzalez, and 9-year-old Daniela Gonzalez from Waupaca County, Wisconsin, lost their lives. Reports reveal that 47-year-old Scott Farmer was driving his pickup truck in the wrong direction on the highway while under the influence.

The impact of the crash between Farmer’s vehicle and the SUV carrying the Gonzalez family was devastating. Three of the siblings died instantly, and the fourth sibling succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to the hospital.

Scott Farmer faced the consequences of his actions when he appeared in court on December 18. He has been charged with four counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, as well as operating with a revoked license causing death. However, the Gonzalez family’s stepfather, Kurt Schilling, expressed his disappointment with the accused’s bail being set at $750,000.

“How can I explain to my wife that all our children are gone?” Schilling lamented.

The criminal complaint against Farmer depicted his aggressive behavior towards firefighters who were trying to rescue him from his wrecked vehicle after the collision. In the face of this unimaginable pain and loss, Schilling found solace in their faith, their loved ones, and the support of their community. However, he also expressed the heartbreaking reality that their future would never be the same without their precious children.

In the aftermath of this tragedy, two GoFundMe pages have been created to assist the devastated Gonzalez family. One of the campaigns has raised nearly $37,000 towards its $40,000 goal, while the other has amassed over $92,000.

Our hearts ache for the Gonzalez family as they navigate through this unfathomable grief. We ask you to join us in sending them prayers, love, and support during these difficult times.
