Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, were both important members of Donald Trump’s White House staff. Of course, the administration’s four-year reign ended in scandal, amid much confusion and drama.
In the aftermath, Ivanka and Jared were both rebuked. After leaving Washington, the pair, like the rest of the Trump family, has settled in Florida.
The last several months have been stressful, not least because of the untimely death of Ivanka’s mother, Ivana. It was believed a few weeks ago that the 41-year-old might return on the campaign trail with her father if he stands for president again in 2024.
Ivanka, however, declined the offer, which was quite unexpected. The fundamental reason for her choice appears to have been disclosed…
It appears that life in a millionaire household is relatively comfortable. You’d be able to do nearly anything, pursue any desire in the world, take spontaneous vacations, and never be obliged to any supervisor.
Ivanka Trump grew up in a family like this. Donald Trump’s youngest daughter was born in New York City on October 30, 1981, and grew up with her famous parents. When Ivana was ten years old, her parents split.
Ivanka Trump’s youth
Her divorce involved a 13-month court struggle over the financial settlement, so it was a trying moment in her life. Ivana was eventually granted a divorce based on “cruel and inhumane treatment,” and she was awarded a $25 million settlement. Ten million dollars were paid in cash.
Ivanka was transferred to a boarding school after her parents divorced. At the age of 15, she transferred to Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut, from the Chapin School. She was apparently the only girl in the dorm having a cell phone, despite her prominent status as a Trump.
The Trumps were incredibly wealthy, but Ivanka’s mother, Ivana, wanted her to be self-sufficient. She is also accused of threatening Ivanka with having to pay her own phone bills. Ivanka realized at that point that she needed to start working for herself.
She began her career as a Versace model and graced the cover of Seventeen magazine in 1997.
At the age of 16, Ivanka Trump was featured in Elle magazine and was a co-host of the Miss Teen USA 1997 pageant.
Ivanka eventually decided she wanted out of the modeling industry, which, like many others, can be tough. Instead, she concentrated on the family company. She knew she wanted to work in real estate since she was in high school.
Ivanka went on to study at Georgetown University for two years. She then transferred to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2004, she received her B.A. in economics.
After graduating, Ivanka began working with millionaire developer Bruce Ratner. A year later, she departed to work in the family business.
“It couldn’t be about my father alone.”
Her father had hoped for her to appear on The Apprentice. She wasn’t sure it was for her at first, but she ultimately gave in.
“I realized it couldn’t just be about my father for ‘Trump’ to be sustainable,” she explains. “It has to be about us as a family in some larger context, and shows like The Apprentice are the platform for that.” That’s why I went through with it.”
She met her future husband, Jared Kushner, in 2007. He was the first man she presented to Donald Trump.
Ivanka and Jared married in 2009 at the Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey. Since then, they’ve had three children.
Arabella Rose was born in 2011, Joseph Frederick was born in 2013, and Theodore James was born in 2016.
As previously noted, Ivanka started her work at Trump, eventually advancing to the rank of executive vice president focusing in development and acquisition. She also started many enterprises, including a jewelry line, and wrote a number of books.
Nevertheless, when her father started his presidential bid in 2015, Ivanka was given a stronger role in his organization. It wasn’t real estate this time, but Trump claiming what some consider to be the most powerful job in the world.
To summarize, Ivanka Trump served as a consultant to her father during Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
Ivanka Trump’s role in the White House
She campaigned alongside him and gave several key speeches, including one at the Republican National Convention in 2016.
Keeping all of these things functioning at the same time was understandably tough.
“Right now, my life is hectic,” Ivanka admitted. “I’m exhausted 90% of the time… Being a mother is the most wonderful, but also the most wild and difficult experience.”
Following Donald’s election victory, Ivanka was immediately assigned to her father’s administration, along with her husband Jared Kushner and brothers Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr.
She served as an advisor, concentrating on “economic empowerment for women and families, as well as job creation and economic growth through workforce development, skills training, and entrepreneurship.”
Trump hired his family members as unpaid White House aides despite the fact that the position demanded long hours.
Whilst Ivanka’s time in the White House was enlightening and probably provided her with new experiences, it also marked the beginning of a few problems.
Those who believed Ivanka should have used her power to stop Donald Trump from enacting certain policies criticised her. Several of those people, who had previously been excellent friends, eventually wanted nothing to do with her.
Some of Ivanka Trump’s acquaintances have deserted her.
Chelsea Clinton, Bill and Hillary Clinton’s daughter, was frequently spotted with Ivanka at numerous occasions with Ivanka and her socialite friends. Chelsea, who was once a registered Democrat, has not spoken to Ivanka since the Trump administration took over the White House.
“I think anyone who works for the president should certainly expect to be examined for not only whatever decisions she or he makes, but also for whatever decisions the White House makes on any given day,” she added.
Chelsea Clinton told Watch What Happens Now in 2020 that it was “very difficult” when someone was aggressively embracing their candidate, whether it was their father or not. I’m not interested in being buddies with someone like that.”
“I have not spoken to her since 2016 and I have no interest in being friends with [her]. We communicated from the start of the [2016] campaign, but it’s incredibly difficult when someone is actively supporting their candidate — whether it’s their father or not… “I don’t want to be friends with someone like that,” Clinton went on to say.
Chelsea wasn’t the only one in Ivanka’s buddy group that severed relations with her.
“Ivanka despised all of the criticism.”
Lysandra Orhstrom, a journalist and Ivanka’s high school buddy, decided she’d had enough after Donald Trump declared the media “the enemy of the people.”
Orhstrom, who was a maid of honor at Ivanka’s wedding, stated in a Vanity Fair story that they had grown apart. She went on to explain that in high school, Ivanka was spoilt and materialistic.
Lysandra recalls Donald once asking who at their school was more beautiful than his daughter.
“I believe it is past time for one of Ivanka’s numerous critics from her youth to come forward – if only to ensure that she truly will never recover from the decision to bind her fate to her father’s,” Ohrstrom said.
This is not to imply that Ivanka had no friends left, and she has always had a loving family. Yet, the loss of some of her closest friends was obviously upsetting. According to the New York Post, Ivanka was dismayed that her pals “turned their back on her” during her time at the White House during her father’s term.
“Ivanka despised all the criticism and threats and was disappointed that many of their friends had abandoned them,” an unnamed source stated.
“She feels it’s awful for her family… and negative in general in her circle of friends,” the person continued. She wants to live as normal a life as she can for herself and her family.”
Shops refused to sell her clothes.
Yet, it appears that losing friends was not Ivanka’s only loss during her time in the White House. Several shops, including Neiman Marcus, Burlington, and Nordstrom, dropped Ivanka’s clothing lines in 2017. She had developed a clothing line focusing on economical women’s office wear in 2011, but when her father became president, the stores chose to penalize her.
Later that year, Ivanka decided to close her fashion company completely.
“I don’t know when or if I’ll ever return to the business,” she added, “but I do know that my emphasis for the foreseeable future will be the job I’m doing here in Washington.”
Ivanka’s year has been filled with highs and lows. Her mother, Ivana, died first, and her husband, Jared, underwent a second thyroid surgery in August after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
Ivanka was not present when Donald announced his presidential run in 2024. The former President was said to have tried to persuade his daughter and her husband to return to the campaign trail, but she declined.
“I am very close to my father. This time, I’ve decided to prioritize my young children and the private life we’re building as a family. “I have no intention of becoming involved in politics,” Ivanka stated immediately after the announcement.
Why Ivanka Trump will not return to politics
“Although I will always love and support my father, moving ahead I will do so outside the political arena. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the American people, and I will always be proud of many of our Administration’s achievements.”
Ivanka also said that she is “extremely pleased” of her work in the White House and what she was “able to accomplish” in an interview with Fox News. According to a close friend of hers, she turned down her father’s proposal not only because she wanted to prioritize family.
“I believe that losing a parent causes a genuine awakening, which implies different things to different people. “It highlighted how precious time is for Ivanka,” an unnamed friend told the New York Post.
“Yet with all the grief that flowed from that period, the consistent refrain in every story that she heard about her mother … was that she genuinely lived: in work, emotionally and professionally; (and like Ivanka) she too left it all on the field. She wasn’t going to put off having fun until later! She was truly one-of-a-kind and a natural powerhouse.”
Ivanka and Jared are rumored to have chosen to leave politics in early 2021. A Trump insider claims that entering politics “altered the trajectory of all of their life,” and that they are “unlikely” to return.
“Ivanka and Jared… were very clear that they would not be returning. They feel like it was a great, extraordinary period in their lives, but nothing sparked their exit.”
