A 2-year-old kid with special needs was discovered dead at a Christian daycare run out of a home in Edenton, North Carolina, on Friday. He was discovered upside down in a five-gallon bucket with three inches of water in it.

CorNyeah Lindsey dropped off her kid, Dinari Lindsey, to Open Arms Christian Ministry before work on Friday. Cliff and Effie Beaman, the couple who ran the daycare, were like Dinari’s grandparents, she said. Lindsey’s other children had been cared for by them, and Lindsey had even stayed with them after giving birth to Dinari.

Dinari was said to have autism as well as impaired eyesight and hearing, which necessitated the use of spectacles and a hearing aid.

Lindsey stated that she received a phone call while at work informing her that Dinari was in the hospital. When she arrived, she was greeted by a Sheriff’s deputy who informed her that her son had died.

According to Lindsey, Cliff Beaman hailed down a Sheriff’s deputy as he drove past and informed him he was looking for a 2-year-old son who had gone missing. After noticing Dinari’s feet amid other items outside the property, the officer allegedly discovered him upside down in a bucket.

Dinari was apparently not wearing his spectacles or hearing aid when he was apprehended.

When asked what happened, Effie Beaman stated that Dinari had fled while she was using the restroom. She was unable to explain why she did not place Dinari in the playpen near the lavatory.

“I’m looking for justice for my son,” Lindsey told WAVY. “I had faith in them.”

Despite the fact that no charges have been filed, the Chowman County Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Social Services are still investigating the event. An autopsy will be performed.
