It’s been a heartbreaking journey for Celine Dion since her diagnosis of stiff person syndrome. This incurable neurological condition has forced her to step back from her music career and the spotlight she has been accustomed to for decades.

Since her diagnosis in 2022, Dion has experienced ups and downs. She had to cancel the remaining dates of her world tour in May 2023 and her family’s desperate search for effective medication has been in vain.

However, there have been some positive moments amidst the challenges. In November, Dion surprised her fans by making a radiant appearance at a hockey game in Las Vegas, posing for photos with her three sons.

But unfortunately, the latest reports suggest that Dion’s wish to return to the stage and sing songs may be in jeopardy. According to Radar Online, she continues to struggle with ongoing issues with her vocal cords. Despite this setback, Dion is determined to perform for her fans again, even if it means singing from a wheelchair.

Dion is currently undergoing extensive treatment with physicians and physical therapists. However, her older sister, Claudette, revealed that her prognosis is not promising. Stiff person syndrome affects the muscles, including the vocal cords. Even though Dion would be content to sit and entertain her audiences, her voice is just not coming back the way it needs to for her to perform or record again.

An insider shared that Dion experiences spasms in her vocal cords. She can sing a few notes, but then a spasm occurs, throwing her singing completely out of sync. Sadly, it seems that these issues are not repairable, despite attempts through surgery or therapy.
