Jon Stewart blasts critics of his ‘Daily Show’ return: ‘It was one f–king show’

Welcome back, Jon Stewart! After nearly a decade away from the desk, the 61-year-old host made his long-awaited return to “The Daily Show” last week. And let’s just say, he knows exactly how to handle his haters.

Some critics took to X, the platform previously known as Twitter, to share their opinions about Stewart’s revival. But, as always, he had the perfect response. In a recent episode, he addressed the feedback on camera, highlighting the absurdity of it all. “I’ve seen people on Twitter tell Labradoodles to go f–k themselves. Labradoodles!” Stewart exclaimed.

Even former President Donald Trump’s anti-Trump niece, Mary L. Trump, chimed in with her thoughts, criticizing Stewart’s “both sides are the same” rhetoric. But Stewart was quick to brush it off, exclaiming, “It was one f–king show! It was just one f–king show! It was 20 minutes.”

Despite the online criticisms, Stewart’s return to the stage received a warm welcome from his in-studio audience. According to a source who spoke with Page Six, the late-night veteran received multiple standing ovations. The energy in the room was incredible. To set the mood, there was a playlist filled with music and artists that Stewart loves.

Stewart, who originally hosted “The Daily Show” from 1999 to 2015, will be occupying the host’s chair leading up to the 2024 presidential election in November. His comeback has left many wondering why he decided to return.

In his own words, Stewart joked, “I have committed a lot of crimes. From what I understand, talk show hosts are granted immunity — it doesn’t make a lot of sense, but take it up with the founders.”
