Rebecca Romijn finally addresses ex John Stamos’ tell-all memoir: ‘I was blindsided’

Rebecca Romijn, the renowned “X-Men” star, has opened up about her surprise and shock regarding her ex-husband John Stamos’ memoir, nearly three months after its release.

Speaking to “Entertainment Tonight” at the Critics Choice Awards, Romijn revealed that she had been blindsided by the memoir and was taken aback by its contents. She stated, “I was very surprised by all of that, incredibly shocked actually. But you know, I don’t really want to help him sell his books based on those headlines. So that’s all I really want to say about it.”

In his memoir titled “If You Would Have Told Me,” released in October 2023, the “Full House” star accused Romijn of infidelity and mistreatment during their marriage. Stamos wrote, “She implies, sometimes subtly and sometimes openly, that I’m not smart enough for her and her entourage of ass-kissers.” He also recounted his experience of feeling betrayed and mistreated throughout their divorce, describing it as a sinking feeling in his stomach.

While promoting his book, Stamos shared his intense dislike for Romijn, admitting that he had hated her and that it had negatively affected his life. However, he acknowledged that his own neglect of his career contributed to their relationship struggles. Stamos believed that Romijn had surpassed him professionally and confessed that he felt emasculated.

Romijn’s current husband, Jerry O’Connell, did not hold back in criticizing Stamos for mentioning his ex-wife in the memoir. O’Connell referred to it as a “betrayal” and highlighted that Romijn had not been given any warning about her inclusion. He revealed that they had only learned about it after the book was published.

Rebecca Romijn’s decision to address the memoir now brings closure to the speculation surrounding Stamos’ accusations. Romijn’s emphasis on not wanting to contribute to the book’s promotion shows her desire to move past the negativity and focus on her own happiness and success.
