According to NBC News, new sources confirm that at least three children were killed after a shooter opened fire inside a Tennessee elementary school.

The school shooting occurred during the morning hours of March 27, according to Nashville Metro Police. Around 10:30 a.m., the event at The Covenant School was initially reported on social media.

An active shooter incident occurred at Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, located on Burton Hills Dr. MNPD apprehended and killed the shooter. Woodmont Baptist Church, 2100 Woodmont Boulevard, is where students and parents can be reunited.

According to Metro Nashville PD, responding officers engaged with the shooter, who was eventually gunned down.

According to John Howser, a spokeswoman for Vanderbilt University Medical Center, three “pediatric patients were transferred to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, all having received gunshot wounds.” Unfortunately, Howser went on to say that “all three were pronounced dead after arrival.”

While the victims’ identities and ages have not yet been released, The Covenant School serves pupils from pre-school through sixth grade. The shooter’s identify has likewise not been confirmed.
