A fire incident affected one of Catania airport terminals

A commercial airline pilot received instructions to divert his aircraft from Catania to Malta, which seemingly left him dissatisfied with the decision.

As a peculiar reaction, he chose to fly the plane in a flight pattern resembling a male genital organ, much to the amusement of plane enthusiasts.

The Lufthansa flight had departed from Frankfurt with its destination set for Catania. However, during the flight, air traffic controllers asked the plane to divert to Malta due to reduced operations at Catania’s Fontanarossa airport following a fire incident that had affected one of its terminals on July 16.

Italian news website La Repubblica highlighted this maneuver, mentioning it as one of several flights impacted by the airport’s situation.

The pilot, evidently displaying his discontent with the change of plans, took the diversion a step further. Instead of a direct route to Malta, the aircraft was tracked flying over and past Catania, creating a flight path in the shape of a large penis over the sea off the Sicilian east coast.

The phallic shape spanned more than 24 kilometers in length, which is equivalent to the distance of the entire island of Malta from Cirkewwa to Marsaxlokk, and it took the pilot over 16 minutes to complete the pattern.

Afterward, the pilot returned to the original flight path, and the aircraft continued its journey to Malta, landing around half an hour later.
