In a heartwarming update, beloved television personality and host of Dancing with the Stars, Alfonso Ribeiro, has shared some wonderful news about his daughter Ava Sue’s recovery from a scooter accident. The four-year-old had to undergo emergency surgery after falling off her sit-down scooter and sustaining significant injuries.
Expressing his gratitude, Alfonso commended the exceptional care and surgical expertise provided by @kareskinmd in a heartfelt Instagram post. Despite the frightening incident, he also praised his brave daughter for her remarkable courage during the procedure.
Now, Alfonso joyfully announces that Ava is doing remarkably well in her recovery journey. As they prepare to celebrate the Fourth of July, he is excited to share that Ava will be there, showcasing her progress. Although the recovery process is slow, everything is going as planned, and Ava is making fantastic strides.
Reflecting on the accident that occurred in May, Alfonso revealed that he wasn’t present when it happened. Fortunately, their nanny was there and immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation, prompting them to seek immediate medical attention.
Ava is the delightful daughter of Alfonso and his second wife, Angela Unkrich, whom he married in 2012. Together, they are also proud parents to two sons, nine-year-old Alfonso “AJ” Lincoln and eight-year-old Anders Reyn. Additionally, Alfonso has a twenty-year-old daughter named Sienna from his previous marriage to Robin Stapler.
Proudly discussing Ava’s unwavering tenacity, Alfonso shared that despite the healing scar, she is still able to move around with determination. He understands the significance of the scar gradually fading away, not only for her physical healing but also for her emotional well-being.

Ava’s mother, Angela, also took to Instagram to share her thoughts at the time of the accident. She intuitively expressed her concern about a potential visit to the emergency room and cautioned against engaging in activities that could potentially lead to harm. Unfortunately, her warning was forgotten, and Ava had the accident on the day before her birthday.
Despite the unfortunate incident, Angela praised her daughter’s resilience and requested extra cuddles to comfort the young girl after what was undoubtedly not an ideal way to spend her last day as a three-year-old.
