“Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak recently shared his harrowing experience of undergoing emergency surgery for a clogged intestine. In an interview with “Good Morning America,” Sajak revealed that he thought he might not survive the procedure.

The pain began in November while Sajak was out on a daily stroll with his daughter. He described the agony as “excruciating.” Within hours, he found himself on the verge of surgery, doubled over in pain. Despite the many medications given to him to manage the discomfort, nothing seemed to work.

However, Sajak’s mindset shifted dramatically after receiving a certain medication from his doctors. He suddenly felt a sense of relief and saw vibrant colors appearing before his eyes. He could hear his wife and daughter talking in the background, but they felt distant. In that moment, Sajak thought he might be facing death, worrying about his loved ones and the aftermath they would have to endure.

Fortunately, the surgery was successful, and Sajak’s fears of dying were unfounded. Reflecting on the experience, he humorously remarked, “It turns out I was only stoned.” He expressed his gratitude for the outcome, stating that he has been feeling fantastic since the surgery and has returned to work in the studio.

Sajak’s co-host, Vanna White, filled in for him during his recovery period. In the interview, Sajak lightheartedly mentioned his concern that she might take over as the main host of the show. He emphasized that he still has his wits about him and intends to continue selling vowels for a long time.

Following Pat Sajak’s retirement announcement from “Wheel of Fortune,” speculation arose about who would take over as the next host. From Vanna White to unknown new faces, the possibilities were endless. However, it has now been officially announced that Ryan Seacrest will be stepping into the role.

He praised Sajak’s incredible contribution to the show and acknowledged the joy and laughter that Sajak and Vanna White have brought into homes for the past 40 years. Seacrest humbly stated that he is excited to learn from Sajak and continue the wheel-spinning legacy.
