Imagine being abandoned as a baby, simply because your appearance is different. This was the heartbreaking reality for Rustam, a child with several malformations that left him without a leg and a partial hip. He was fed through a tube and had multiple surgeries to reconstruct his face. But despite his resilience, Rustam struggled to find someone to give him a loving home.

In 2017, fate intervened when Nika Zlobin, a kind-hearted woman from Moscow, came across a photo of four-year-old Rustam. Despite his unique appearance, Nika saw beyond the surface and knew she had to help him. Together with her husband Yuri, they made the decision to foster or adopt Rustam.

Their first meeting with Rustam exceeded their expectations. Nika recalls, “I was ready for a lot, I thought he was in diapers, but when I met him, he seemed like a child prodigy.
