Rick Allen has been a Def Leppard member for almost 35 years and is widely considered as one of the best rock drummers of all time.

Regrettably, he is currently experiencing difficulties as a result of an unwarranted attack last week.

An incident occurred outside the Four Seasons in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on March 13. Max Hartley, a 19-year-old spring breaker from Ohio, approached Allen while he smoked a cigarette. The drunken young man smacked Allen in the head and threw the famed drummer to the ground.

According to the police report, Allen was hurt after banging his head on the ground. Hartley pursued a brave, anonymous woman who came to Allen’s rescue and attempted to intercede.

The perpetrator yanked the woman’s hair and abused her. According to authorities, Hartley “continued to strike her” while she was on the ground.

The woman entered a motel in an attempt to flee her assailant. Meanwhile, Hartley ran to a nearby parking garage and began causing damage to vehicles before being arrested by police.

According to the 911 audio tapes, Allen and the woman were accosted in front of the hotel, resulting in a violent scene.

“Apparently a guest, some person assaulted her and was literally beating her up in front of our building,” one lady reported to a dispatcher.

Another concerned caller, the owner of a local eatery, also asked for help.

“Get the cops here right away!”

“I’m on a f—-g suspect,” he explained.

The incident stunned many onlookers, including followers of the great Rick Allen. Some people were concerned that the good Samaritan who came to Allen’s help was his wife, but she wasn’t.

A week after the incident, Allen made a statement giving followers an update in which he thanked everyone for the “overwhelming support”.

“Your love and prayers are greatly appreciated. Fortunately, my wife Lauren was not with me at the time of the incident. “We’re all together now, focusing on recovery in a safe environment,” the drummer wrote on Twitter.

Last week, Allen headed to Florida to perform at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The iconic musician, recognized for his amazing talent and humility, lost his left arm in a horrific accident in 1984.

Despite having to re-teach himself, Allen, dubbed “The Thunder God” by his fans, continued to play drums with one arm.

“They wanted to re-attach it, but an infection crept in, and they didn’t want to risk it because it was so close to my heart.” In retrospect, the doctor said that if the re-attachment had been successful, I would have had to return for procedure after operation. That is not something I would have chosen to go through. “I’ve had enough physical and mental agony,” Allen stated in 2011.

Allen has gone through a lot in his life, as one might assume, but the heinous and unjustified attack in Florida definitely took a severe toll on him.

“We are concentrating on healing for everyone affected,” Allen wrote on Facebook.

“We would want to invite you to join us in our endeavor to shift from confusion and shock to compassion and empathy.” We appreciate that this act of violence might be upsetting for many people.”

Hartley, 19, was charged with four counts of criminal mischief; according to his lawyer, his client has “never been in conflict with the law before.”

What a terrifying and distressing experience for everyone concerned!

Prayers for Rick Allen and the woman who assisted him!
