Bridget Fonda, 59, says she won't return to acting in rare outing

In the golden age of Hollywood, Bridget Fonda shone brightly. A familiar face in the ’80s and ’90s, she had the potential to become a household name like her famous father, Peter Fonda, and grandfather, Henry Fonda.

From her breakthrough in the TV series “21 Jump Street” to her appearances in films like “The Godfather Part III” and “Jackie Brown,” Fonda seemed destined for success. But in 2002, when she was in her 30s, she made a surprising decision: She stepped away from the limelight and left Hollywood behind.

Rumors swirled about why she made this sudden exit. Some believed she wanted to focus on her family with partner Danny Elfman, whom she married in 2003. But whatever the reason, Fonda, now 59, has no intention of returning to acting.

Recently, she was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport with her son, Oliver. A photographer approached her and asked if she was interested in making a comeback. Fonda simply replied, “No.” When pressed further, she added, “I don’t think [I’ll come back], it’s too nice being a civilian.”

It’s understandable that Fonda’s potential return is seen as a ‘never say never’ possibility. Acting is in her blood, and if the desire strikes her, there will likely be offers waiting. But for now, Fonda seems content with a life away from the searing spotlight of Hollywood.
