97-year-old Hollywood star, Dick Van Dyke, recently opened up about the car accident he was involved in, and how he’s been feeling since the incident.

After crashing his car in the rain on March 15 in Malibu, California, Van Dyke broke his silence and shared his experience. His car reportedly lost control and crashed into a gate in the exclusive neighborhood.

According to the actor, who was found behind the wheel when the police arrived, he skidded in the rain and couldn’t prevent the crash. Van Dyke revealed that he felt sore all over and had “face-planted into his steering wheel” during the accident.

Despite suffering a lip laceration that required two stitches, the Hollywood legend maintained a cheerful attitude when discussing the incident. He even humorously remarked that the accident may have made him “a little dumber,” pointing at his mouth.

At 97 years old, Van Dyke didn’t let his age deter him from finding the humor in the situation. When asked about his recovery, he simply replied, “I’m fine, just sore all over.” He also joked, “I’m 97… All my friends are dead.”

The actor expressed gratitude to his wife, Arlene Silver, for taking care of him during his recovery. He even credited her for potentially saving his life, stating that without her, he “probably would be dead.” Reports suggest that Arlene has taken away Van Dyke’s car keys due to concerns about his safety.

This isn’t the first time Van Dyke has faced a dangerous car incident. He was rescued from a flaming Jaguar on a Los Angeles freeway back in 2013. Showing bravery and quick thinking, a bystander pulled him from the burning car.

Just a month prior to the accident, Van Dyke made an appearance on The Masked Singer, the US version of a popular TV talent competition. His rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “When You’re Smiling” left judge Nicole Scherzinger in tears. The audience was also treated to a special performance of the classic “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”

We wish Dick Van Dyke a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in action soon!
