When you’ve lived as long as Elton John has and spent the majority of your years in the public eye, you’re bound to have some stories to tell. Being an icon in the ever-unpredictable world of celebrity showbiz, it’s no surprise that Elton John has a vault of secrets. And now, with the release of his memoir, Me, some of these secrets are finally coming to light.

In his memoir, Elton John shares plenty of tales, from hilarious to shocking to downright upsetting. But it’s his words about the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, that have struck a chord online. Elton reveals that he had known Jackson since the singer was just a young boy.

“He was just the most adorable kid you could imagine,” Elton recalls. However, as the years went by, something changed. Elton describes how Jackson started distancing himself from the world and reality, much like Elvis Presley did. Elton believes that Jackson’s transformation may have been due to his prolonged use of prescription drugs.

“It’s difficult to know what was going on in his head,” Elton writes. “But every time I saw him in his later years, I came away thinking that the poor guy had totally lost his marbles.” Elton emphasizes that he doesn’t mean this in a lighthearted way, but rather that Jackson was genuinely mentally ill and a disturbing person to be around.

It’s no secret that Jackson’s legacy has been overshadowed by allegations of sexual abuse against minors. Elton simply states, “For whatever reason, he couldn’t seem to cope with adult company at all.”

As we delve into Elton John’s revelations, it’s important to note that the legendary singer himself has been facing health issues lately. In order to aid his recovery, he had to postpone and reschedule many dates on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour until 2023.

Recently, there were reports that Elton declined an offer to perform at King Charles’s coronation concert. He famously sang Candle in the Wind at Princess Diana’s funeral, but he won’t be appearing at the ceremony to officially confirm her ex-husband’s position as the new monarch of England.
