President Joe Biden recently joined Meta’s X competitor, Threads, and wasted no time in using his first post to poke fun at his age. On his birthday, Biden humorously remarked, “I turned 81 and all I got was a new social platform!” Accompanied by a photo of himself standing in front of a brightly lit birthday cake, he also expressed gratitude for the well-wishes he received. Additionally, he took a moment to acknowledge the workers at the birthday candle factory, hoping their union secured them some overtime pay.

Biden, being the oldest person to have held the office of the President, has been light-heartedly embracing his age in recent times, as suggested by many donors. During Monday’s annual turkey pardoning ceremony, he jokingly commented, “As most of you know, it’s challenging to turn 60.” This move by Biden to engage with Threads comes at a time when advertisers are distancing themselves from X due to owner Elon Musk’s denial of endorsing an antisemitic statement.
