Recently, on The Late Late Show With James Corden, John Legend shared some fun experiences he’s had with his children that have left him feeling a bit ashamed. Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, have three children together – Luna, Miles, and Esti. Esti was born a few months ago, following a tragic loss of their previous pregnancy.
Musician Dad
Legend revealed that when he sends his kids off to school, they ask for his music to be played. Especially his son, who seems to be like a music whiz. Legend said, “He is like Rain Man regarding song lengths and knows every one of my songs.” He even remembers the exact duration of each song, like how “Green Light” is 3 minutes and 19 seconds.
Awkward Car Rides
Playing his own music loudly when dropping off his kids at school can be quite awkward for Legend. Especially considering that other famous children, like Jay-Z and Beyonce’s kids, also attend the same school. Legend added, “I’m pulling up, playing my music loud, and it’s embarrassing.” He jokingly remarked about Jay-Z not blasting his own music to his kids in the car, or at least not that he’s heard.
The Name Esti
Legend and Teigen recently revealed that they named their daughter Esti. Teigen shared that she fell in love with the name when she kept seeing it during their vacation in Italy, where they got married. But what’s interesting is that after naming their daughter, they discovered that Esti was actually the name of Legend’s great-grandmother. Initially, it was Esther, but later changed to Esti.
