Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock pocketed millions from the singer and is now ordered to return it all

Kelly Clarkson has faced many challenges following her divorce, including financial difficulties. However, there might be some much-needed redemption coming her way. Brandon Blackstock, her ex-husband, has finally settled a case with Clarkson in her favor. Let’s find out more!

Clarkson and Blackstock tied the knot in 2013 but divorced in 2021. During their marriage, Blackstock served as Clarkson’s manager and charged her a commission. Unfortunately, it was discovered that he had taken significant amounts of money from her.

A California labor commissioner recently ruled that Blackstock had overcharged Clarkson in commission fees. On Thursday, it was decided that he must repay the Grammy winner a staggering amount of approximately $2,641,374. However, Blackstock is reportedly planning to appeal the decision.

Legal documents reveal that Blackstock acted unlawfully by securing gigs and signing deals for Clarkson, including those for “The Voice,” Norwegian Cruise Lines, Wayfair, and the Billboard Music Awards. According to the labor commissioner, only talent agents, not managers, have the authority to secure employment for their clients. While there could be exceptions, this was not one of them.

As a result of the ruling, Blackstock owes Clarkson $1,983,155.70 for her time as a coach on “The Voice,” $208,125 for her collaboration with Norwegian Cruise Lines, $450,000 for her partnership with Wayfair, and $93.30 for hosting the Billboard Music Awards on three occasions. However, the money Blackstock kept when Clarkson signed “The Kelly Clarkson Show” was ruled to be his.

The couple’s divorce proceedings were drawn out and bitter, involving a custody battle over their two children and a dispute over their shared Montana ranch. The divorce was finally settled in court in March 2022, with Clarkson being granted primary custody of their 9-year-old daughter, River Rose, and 7-year-old son, Remington “Remy” Alexander. She was also allowed to keep the ranch.

After the split, Clarkson moved to New York City, where she found healing and regained her footing. The challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic led her to reflect on her relationships. In September, she reassured her fans that she is not looking for a boyfriend at the moment, emphasizing her love for being single and the responsibilities she has with her children, pets, and multiple jobs.

In addition to her personal struggles, Clarkson has faced several legal battles in recent years. However, this favorable ruling brings some much-needed relief. We wish her the best of luck for her future.
