Former model Turia Pitt, now 27, was participating in an ultra marathon in Australia six years ago when a devastating bush fire engulfed her. She suffered severe burns on 64 percent of her body, leaving doctors uncertain of her survival. But amidst the devastation, a true love story began to unfold.
When the accident occurred, Turia’s boyfriend, Michael Hoskin, made a life-altering decision. He left his job as a police officer to become Turia’s caretaker. Through every hardship, Michael stood steadfastly by her side. His dedication and unwavering support became Turia’s pillar of strength.
Since the accident, Turia has endured over 200 operations, losing seven fingers and enduring a grueling two-year recovery. In a recent interview, she vividly recalled the horror of the event, the flames consuming her during a remote 100km race. Through it all, Michael has remained her rock.
In 2015, Michael proposed to Turia with a diamond ring that he had purchased while she lay in intensive care. Despite having to wear a mask for two years to aid her healing process, Turia gradually regained her strength. Michael, never failing to remind her of her beauty, has lovingly supported her every step of the way. The couple sealed their love with a marriage in 2016.
Turia expresses profound gratitude for the overwhelming support she has received from Michael during the past seven years, the majority of which she spent in hospital. Even though she couldn’t run a marathon for a while, Turia remained committed to staying fit during her pregnancy.
Finally, their bundle of joy arrived! On 7th December 2017, Michael and Turia welcomed their son Hakavai into the world. Their happiness multiplied when they announced the birth of their second child, Rahiti Hoskin, on 9th February 2020.
Today, Turia and Michael are happily married, nurturing their precious children together. Their remarkable story serves as a testament to the power of love, an inspiration for us all. With unwavering support and unwavering love, they have proven that love truly conquers all.
