It’s every homeowner’s fear that they will end up with troublesome neighbors. But what happens if after you’ve moved in your neighbor changes their house so much it becomes hard to look at?

Well, that’s exactly what happened in a quiet Austin, Texas suburb. One man, Emilio Rodriguez, decided to paint his entire house a bright Pepto-Bismol pink, and it’s causing quite a stir among the local residents.

Most neighborhoods in the U.S. have a Homeowners Association (HOA) which helps keep the houses looking consistent and can also pay for useful community conveniences. However, Rodriguez intentionally bought his house in Pflugerville, Texas because it doesn’t have an HOA, allowing him to fulfill his dream of a pink paradise. Unfortunately, his colorful choice has not been well received by his neighbors.

“I love this house. I don’t know why people don’t like it,” Emilio told CBS17.

When Emilio bought his house, it was a plain beige color. But now, pink has become his favorite color, and he has plans to paint more parts of his home Pepto-Bismol pink. His neighbors, however, are upset about the change and are concerned that the vibrant hue will bring down property values in the area.

But here’s the thing: Emilio, who is wheelchair-bound after a car accident and battles several health issues, says the color of his house makes him happy. Not only that, but he believes it helps maintain the unique and quirky spirit of Austin, famously known for embracing the slogan “Keep Austin Weird.”

So what do you think about the color of Emilio’s house? Personally, I think it adds a touch of character to the neighborhood. Plus, it could be a great way for friends, delivery people, and others to easily spot his house. In fact, I once had a neighbor whose house was a similar color, and she turned out to be one of the best neighbors I’ve ever had. Trust me, you’ll get used to it!
