Becoming a parent is often seen as the most natural thing in the world. However, many couples face challenges in conceiving a child, more than one might think. Some turn to IVF treatments, while others unfortunately cannot bear a child at all. My heart goes out to those who experience difficulties on their journey to parenthood.

Recent reports reveal that Reba McEntire’s son, Shelby, and his partner, Marissa, have been going through their own fertility issues. Marissa has bravely taken to Instagram to talk openly about their struggles, in an effort to break the silence and remove the taboo surrounding this topic.

Fertility issues are more common than we realize. In an ideal world, no one would have to suffer in silence. Marissa, the daughter-in-law of country music legend Reba McEntire, aims to change this. She documents her and Shelby Blackstock’s journey towards starting their own family, sharing candid updates along the way. They have been trying for a child for a year since their marriage.

Their first treatment cycle took place in November, but unfortunately, they didn’t receive the desired results. Despite this setback, Marissa remains optimistic and wants to share her story to increase understanding and support for others facing similar challenges.

Marissa states, “I’m sharing our story openly because the silence around fertility struggles needs to be broken. It’s a tougher and more common journey than many realize.” She urges those going through fertility issues to stay positive and reminds them that they are not alone.

If Shelby and Marissa are successful in their efforts to conceive, Reba McEntire would become a biological grandparent for the first time. Reba’s stepson, Brandon, is married to singer Kelly Clarkson, and they have two children together in addition to Brandon’s two children from a previous relationship. Reba treats all of these children as her own grandchildren, and we can only imagine the joy she would experience in becoming a grandparent once again.

We send our best wishes to Shelby and Marissa Blackstock as they continue on their journey towards parenthood.
