Tiger Woods is carted off seven holes into his second round at Riviera

Tiger Woods’ eagerly anticipated return to the PGA Tour was cut short today as he was forced to withdraw from the second round of the Genesis Invitational due to illness.

Woods was seen with his head in his hands as he was carted away on Friday afternoon

Woods, who had teed off on hole No.7, appeared to be visibly struggling before he was carted off the course. His manager and business partner, Rob McNamara, revealed that Woods had signs of flu-like symptoms and dehydration. He received immediate medical attention, including an IV treatment, and his condition is now improving.

It’s a disappointing end to Woods’ week at the Riviera Country Club, where he had hoped to make the cut at the event he organizes. Yesterday, Woods shot a one-over-par round, and today he was hovering around the cut line before his illness forced him to exit the tournament.

Woods, a 15-time Major winner, has been facing several setbacks in recent years. Since his car crash in 2021, he has played in only six events, with three withdrawals and one missed cut. This was his first PGA Tour event since the 2023 Masters, and he was looking forward to competing. Unfortunately, his health got in the way.

Before leaving the course, Woods paid homage to his earlier days by wearing a polo with the same pattern and colors as his first PGA Tour event in 1992. He got off to a strong start today, birdieing the first hole and following it up with back-to-back pars. However, as the round progressed, he began to struggle and appeared visibly uncomfortable on holes four and five.

While it’s unclear what specifically caused Woods to fall ill, one can’t help but wonder if his recent fast food indulgence – he was seen with an order from In-N-Out Burger earlier this week – may have played a role.

At this time, Woods has not confirmed his participation in any upcoming events, but golf fans are hopeful to see him compete in The Masters this April. Until then, he will focus on his recovery and getting back to full health.

Once again, Woods’ incredible journey on the golf course encounters another unexpected obstacle. Despite this setback, fans around the world continue to support him, knowing that a true champion never gives up. We wish Tiger Woods a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the golf course soon!
