Tourists hang upside down on roller coaster for more than 20 minutes because of power failure

According to local media reports, the incident happened on June 6 at the Nandaihe amusement park in Qinhuangdao, Hebei province, China.

The video recorded by a tourist at that time showed that a roller coaster in operation suddenly crashed and stopped at the highest point, causing 11 tourists to hang upside down in the air.

Some witnesses said the park had a sudden power outage leaving all roller coasters stuck in the air for more than 20 minutes.

An employee of the Qinhuangdao City Culture and Tourism Bureau said that power outages are rare and the amusement park management is investigating the cause. The backup power was then activated and the train was able to resume operation.

Fortunately, the health of the tourists is stable, no one was injured. It is not clear if the tourists experiencing the incident will be compensated.

Authorities said they will investigate the cause of the incident, looking into individuals who are responsible for the safety of participants in the risky game.

Currently, the amusement park is still open to tourists. However, some adventure games are being paused for maintenance.
