Cillian Murphy explains Matt Damon's funny comment

Cillian Murphy shares his experience working on ‘Oppenheimer’ alongside Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, and Florence Pugh. He reveals that every day was exciting and full of energy.

It turns out that Cillian Murphy isn’t the best dinner companion when he’s working on a film. In fact, Matt Damon, his co-star in “Oppenheimer,” jokingly called him the “worst dinner companion imaginable.” But don’t worry, it’s not because of his personality; it’s because of his intense work ethic.

During an interview with “60 Minutes,” host Scott Pelley explained what Damon meant by his comment. Murphy, being completely focused on his role, leaves very little room in his head for anything else. Murphy laughed and said, “I’ve always been like that, I think.”

Murphy shared that when he’s on set, he spends most of his time in character, which leaves him with little mental space for anything else. He also values his sleep, which is essential to him. But don’t worry, he clarified that he has had lovely dinners with Matt Damon since the movie has finished, and they have been able to enjoy each other’s company without the pressures of filming.

In “Oppenheimer,” Murphy takes on the lead role as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist who played a crucial role in the development of the atomic bomb. Alongside Murphy, the film features an incredible cast including Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, and Josh Hartnett.

Murphy praised his co-stars, calling them brilliant actors and great people. He particularly mentioned his close working relationship with Emily Blunt, as they had previously worked together on “Quiet Place 2,” and it was smart casting to make them husband and wife in “Oppenheimer.”

“Oppenheimer” hit theaters on July 21 and has been nominated for an impressive 13 Academy Awards, including a nomination for Cillian Murphy for Best Actor. The awards ceremony will take place on March 10 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
